2023 Chancellor’s Challenge – Move it Coast to Coast
February 27, join Dr. Patterson for the very first Chancellor’s Challenge!
In this 7- week challenge, participants get: Encouraging messages as they participate in various forms of exercise to “move it” across the United States. This challenge is a team-based campaign.
Participants will: Log their time spent in physical activity which will translate to miles traveled by their team. They get more miles added to their total for vigorous activity versus moderate activity. In addition, participants can see how their team is doing, how far they have to go to their next landmark, and how close they are to the finish line! The unit for this campaign will track exercise minutes. In addition this campaign can include synced device data and/or manual data.
Participate as an individual or create a team!
What participants are saying:
- “I liked how this campaign was interactive and you can see the progress each week.”
- “Everyone can exercise based on their own pace or habits, and it all counts.”
*Prizes for those who complete the challenge are to be determined at this time.

During these stressful times, one practice that can help us manage stress is Mindfulness. The UAMS Mindfulness Program is pleased to offer a new Koru Mindfulness course in May taught by our trained Mindfulness teacher, Ellis Widner. Details below:
5:00 PM – 6:15 PM weekly on Thursday starting May 12 and ending June 2, 2022. Click on the link below to register for the course. We have limited slots.
The Koru Mindfulness (KM) course is a great introductory course to learn about the practice of Mindfulness. It includes a 75 minute group session each week for 4 weeks with a class size of up to 15 students. During each session, participants are taught Mindfulness skills, and participate in group discussions. Participants are expected to practice Mindfulness meditation for 10 minutes a day. KM also has a free app that can be downloaded to register for a course, communicate with the instructor, and also use it to practice Mindfulness skills. At the completion of the Course, you will get a more in depth knowledge of Mindfulness, learn Mindfulness skills, and more importantly be able to practice and apply Mindfulness in your daily life. You will also have access to the Koru app indefinitely.
All Classes will be held via ZOOM. The instructor will send the Zoom link to registered participants before the start of the course.
