Have you heard about the new SupportU program available from the Office of Patient Safety, Clinical Risk and Patient Relations?
The program is based on a nationally recognized program from the University of Missouri designed to provide support and mental health resources for healthcare workers following patient safety and adverse events.
The SupportU team seeks to:
-Provide psychological first aid to those involved in unanticipated or stressful events
-Promote awareness of the normal reactions that accompany caring for patients
-Identify and provide support and resources for our colleagues
Peer Support:
-Normalizes emotional and physical responses
-Decreases stigma associated with asking for help
-Eliminates fear by providing a safe zone to receive support
-Identifies high risk scenarios and provides support proactively
We want our colleagues to feel:
Appreciated -Valued – Respected – Understood -Trusted
