The UAMS Mindfulness Program invites you to participate in its Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course, a research-backed program designed to help reduce stress, improve emotional well-being, and enhance overall quality of life. This course is open to UAMS students, residents, fellows, faculty, staff, and members of the community.
Cost, Discounts, Scholarships:
- UAMS students, residents, and fellows can attend the course free of charge for the first 5 attendees.
- UAMS Faculty and Staff, and the Public are welcome to join for a fee of $300.
- Discounts are available for UAMS employees and for couples/family attending together
- Scholarships are available upon request.
What is MBSR? Developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, MBSR is an evidence-based, eight-week program designed to teach mindfulness practices to reduce stress and cultivate greater awareness of the present moment. It blends meditation, body awareness, gentle yoga, and practical strategies for managing life’s challenges.
Course Highlights: Participants will engage in:
- Guided mindfulness meditation practices.
- Gentle yoga and mindful movement.
- Group discussions and reflections.
- Practical strategies to apply mindfulness in daily life.
- Daily home practice assignments to deepen mindfulness skills.
Schedule: Join us for our upcoming in-person MBSR Course running from March through April 2026! This transformative journey kicks off with a mandatory Orientation on Monday, March 2 (6:00–7:30 PM), followed by weekly sessions held every Saturday morning from 8:00–10:30 AM. The program concludes with a powerful All-day Retreat on Saturday, April 25 (9:00 AM–3:00 PM) and a final closing class on Sunday, April 26.
