UAMS Fitness Center

The fitness center is a commitment of UAMS to its employees, students and significant others to improve individual health and well-being by starting – and continuing – a regular exercise program. You are invited to stop by the eighth floor of the Rahn building and check out the cutting-edge employee and student fitness facility. The facility is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with key card access for our members convenience. Call 526-2222 for office hours and more!

Ottenhiemer Fitness and Therapy center for 50+

Do you want to have more energy, be more active and feel younger? All across the country, older adults are seeking to regain or maintain physical health, vitality and independence. Put a spring in your step and walk with confidence. You can also create more definition in your body, lose body fat and prevent osteoporosis.

The Ottenheimer Therapy and Fitness Center, located in the UAMS Reynolds Institute on Aging, is designed specifically for people 50 years of age and older. Members have access to a spacious room with a variety of exercise equipment and programs including Keiser weight machines, cardiovascular equipment, educational programs and special exercise classes such as yoga and Tai Chi. Hallways are equipped with handrails for added safety.

UAMS Water Wellness

Exercising in the water may be the perfect answer to your fitness needs or goals. With pain-free, low-People swimming in an indoor poolimpact movements, exercise in water can help improve your overall health and speed recovery from a recent injury or illness. Water exercise can often help you heal after undergoing surgery.

Water wellness is also a great option if you want to: increase your metabolism, build muscle tone and strength, improve balance, coordination and range of motion and  relieve tension.

The UAMS Water Wellness Program is offered at the Jackson T. Stephens Spine & Neurosciences Institute. The program offers a variety of aquatic exercise classes for adults 18 years and older.


Walking Routes for UAMS and the Stair Climbing Program

Walking pathways are available to all UAMS employees online in a free printable form. The pathways are indoor and outdoor so Pathwaysthat employees can walk no matter the weather. Get these pathways online now on the Inside UAMS news section archives.

The overall goal of this free Climb Your Way to Health challenge is to get employees to increase their daily steps and stamina through climbing stairs. Participants who complete the program will be recognized internally and on social media through UAMS and the UAMS Fitness Center.
